Fernando Martín, professor of the Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Science – UAM, has received the Rey Jaime I prize in the Basic Research category. This award recognizes his contribution in the establishment of the theoretical foundations of Attochemistry, which consist in observing and manipulating the electronic movement in atoms and molecules in their natural time scale – the attosecond (10-18 seconds).
Fernando Martín has a well-established international reputation in the field of Physical Chemistry. In recent years, the research carried out by this group has also been recognized by an Advanced grant from the European Research Council (ERC) entitled “XUV/X-ray lasers for ultrafast electronic control in chemistry” (XCHEM, https://www.xchem.uam.es/xchem/).
Currently, the software XChem is within SIMUNE’s “Code Support Program”, framework where we identify compelling open-source codes, and we design programs to create professional ready-to-use tools with support and guarantee.
